UNLIMITEDNET is Unlimited Net, LLC, a small Indiana operator (ARIN org UNL-9, PO Box in Elizabethtown; offices in Columbus, Indiana) that sells server hosting, rural fixed-wireless access, VoIP and, more recently, IP transit.

What it's used for

• A modest, mixed network: RIS sees two IPv4 prefixes totalling 2,560 addresses plus three IPv6 prefixes, against six observed neighbours. Six neighbours is more than a single-homed enterprise and far short of a carrier, which fits a regional shop that both buys transit and resells a little of it.
• The main block, 198.134.104.0/21, is registered in ARIN to Unlimited Net itself and carries first-party reverse DNS (198-134-104-5.rev.unlimitednet.us). Self-registered space with self-branded rDNS is the signature of a real operator running its own estate.

Notable

• The second block, 168.81.218.0/23, is an outlier: it is registered through AFRINIC to AECI Information Services (Pty) Ltd, a South African company with no visible relationship to an Indiana ISP. One transferred or leased legacy /23 announced alongside self-registered space is unremarkable in itself, but the registrant genuinely does not match the announcer, and that is worth knowing before geolocating anything inside it.
• Both a hosting provider and a wireless access provider live behind this one AS number, so an address here can be a customer server or a rural subscriber. Treat per-prefix intent as unresolved rather than assuming either.

Interesting

• ARIN dates the ASN to 2012, well after the number range itself was first issued. A five-digit AS number here says nothing about the network's age.
