What it's used for

The insurer's own production edge. RIS sees two /24s — 40.143.85.0/24 and 40.143.207.0/24, 512 addresses — behind a single observed neighbour. The reverse DNS is first-party and consistent: every sampled address answers as 40-143-xx-x.ip.usalife.net. Two small blocks, one upstream, one company's domain across all of it: this is an enterprise announcing its own space for its own systems, with no access pool, no hosting tenants and no transit role.

Notable

Both prefixes are registered to TierPoint, LLC, not to USAble Life, under the network name TP4-XXX-40-143-72-0-17. Read carelessly, a third-party registrant on 100% of an AS's space is the IP-leasing tell. It is not one here. TierPoint is a colocation and managed-data-centre operator, the blocks are ordinary provider-assigned space carved from TierPoint's own allocation, and the rDNS underneath is the customer's. Provider-assigned space is not third-party space — the tell is unrelated registrants, and a company's data-centre landlord is not unrelated.
