AS11847 OTT

The OTT handle belongs to what is now GoNetSpeed, the fibre ISP built out

of Otelco and its Maine competitive-carrier arms (OTT Communications, Mid-Maine

Communications, CRC Communications). It is a New England access network,

concentrated in Maine.

What it's used for

• Residential and small-business internet access. RIS observes 26 IPv4 prefixes carrying about 33,000 addresses, three IPv6 prefixes, and four observed neighbours. A five-figure address pool with a handful of upstreams is an eyeball ISP; a carrier of the same size would show far more neighbours.
• The reverse DNS is subscriber space through and through: dyn.me-south.gonetspeed.com and dyn.me-central.gonetspeed.com dynamic pools, dyn-adsl.midmaine.net lines, midmaine.com hosts, pinetreenetworks DSL names, and a BGP router under ottcommunications.com. The dyn/adsl labels name the access technology, not the customer type.

Notable

• The prefix registrants read like a company history rather than a warning sign: GoNetSpeed, CRC Communications LLC (d/b/a GoNetSpeed), MID-MAINE COMMUNICATIONS, MMC SITES, and a NETMAINE block under Agate, Inc. These are predecessor and sibling entities in one Maine operator's lineage, all in ARIN space, all announced by the same AS, all wearing first-party rDNS. That is acquisition residue, not third-party leased space.
• Otelco rebranded to GoNetSpeed after being taken private in 2021, and the registry records simply never caught up. The AS name is two brands behind.
