• The three 165.166.x blocks sit inside a /16 that ARIN shows allocated to Spirit Communications in Columbia, South Carolina, back in 1993. The college's own reassignments inside a state carrier's legacy /16 is ordinary provider SWIP history, and the college is still the registered holder of each /23.

Interesting

• A college this size usually holds an AS number for redundancy or as a legacy multihoming arrangement rather than for scale. With 2,048 addresses and one upstream, this one is doing very little routing work today.
• No PTRs came back on the addresses sampled. That is a fact about the sample, not about the college's DNS, and nothing is inferred from it.
