What it's used for

• University campus networking: student, staff, research and administrative traffic across Drexel's Philadelphia campuses, including the College of Medicine.
• RIS observes four IPv4 prefixes carrying about 131,584 addresses and no IPv6, against just two observed neighbours. The address count is dominated by two legacy /16s, 129.25.0.0/16 and 144.118.0.0/16, the kind of allocation US universities picked up when class-B space was still handed out to institutions. A pair of upstreams against 128k addresses is the classic university profile: a very large address pool, almost no peering fan-out, because a campus consumes transit rather than selling it.

Notable

• The registration side is unusually tidy. All four prefixes register to Drexel, with 198.17.30.0/24 held specifically by Drexel University College of Medicine, an intra-institution split rather than a third-party registrant. There is nothing broker-shaped here: one RIR, first-party registrations, and a contiguous institutional inventory.
• No PTRs were returned on the addresses sampled. That is a property of the sample, not evidence about the network, and no inference is drawn from it.

Interesting

• The absence of any announced IPv6 is worth noting for a research university of this size; a lot of campus IPv6 rides in over other paths rather than being originated by the campus AS itself.
