AS11831 ESECUREDATA

ESECUREDATA is a British Columbia hosting provider, running dedicated servers,

bare metal, colocation and managed hosting out of Vancouver-area facilities. It

was acquired by Canadian Web Hosting in December 2015 and still trades under its

own name.

What it's used for

• Shared and dedicated web hosting. RIS observes 52 IPv4 prefixes carrying about 15,100 addresses plus 8 IPv6 /48s, against only five observed neighbours. A modest address pool announced to a handful of upstreams is the profile of a content/hosting network buying transit, not of a carrier selling it.
• The reverse DNS is the giveaway: the sampled addresses resolve to a scatter of unrelated customer domains, mail hosts and web servers rather than to any access-network naming pattern. This is server space, occupied by whoever rents it.

Notable

• Almost every announced block registers back to eSecureData itself, under serial ARIN handles like ESE17-…-CA and ESD-SURREY-V4, so this is a real operator holding its own inventory. One /24 registers to Idigital Internet Inc., which reads as an ordinary customer or partner assignment rather than a third-party leasing arrangement: there is no multi-RIR scatter and no chain of unrelated registrants behind it.

• Mixed-tenant hosting space attracts mixed-quality tenants. Some of the sampled hostnames are throwaway-looking domains of the sort that turn up on shared hosting anywhere, which is worth knowing if you are scoring reputation on this range.
