SMARTBURST is SmartBurst LLC, a small independent internet provider in Aubrey, Texas

(Denton County, north of Dallas). It sells unlimited residential and small-business broadband

delivered over a fibre-fed, ground-based fixed-wireless network — a WISP, in other words,

rather than a cable or telco incumbent.

What it's used for

• Retail access for homes and businesses in its Denton County service area. The commercial footprint is documented in the usual broadband-availability sources and in PeeringDB, where the company lists itself; the routing is the small end of an access network.
• RIS sees 3 IPv4 prefixes / 1,536 addresses, no IPv6, and 1 observed neighbour. A single upstream is the tell that matters: this network buys transit from one provider and has no peering role at all. Under two thousand addresses is a few thousand subscribers at most, behind carrier NAT or not.

Notable

• All three prefixes — 158.51.184.0/22, 148.59.150.0/24 and 205.201.54.0/24 — are ARIN-registered under the handle SMARTBURST to SmartBurst LLC. Holder, registrant and announcer are the same entity throughout; there is no third-party or out-of-region space anywhere in the inventory, so none of the leased-address-space patterns apply.
• No reverse DNS was seen on the six addresses sampled. That is a sample, not a finding — it supports no conclusion about the zone in either direction, and none is drawn here.

Interesting

• This is a clear case of a low AS number meaning nothing about age. ARIN records AS11821 as registered in August 2017, and the ASN's contact is a named individual at a PO box in Aubrey. A four-figure AS number in the 11000s is reissued space, and the company holding it is a recent one.
