CourseLeaf — the catalog, curriculum, scheduling and registration platform used by

hundreds of colleges and universities.

What it's used for

• Hosting the CourseLeaf SaaS estate and Leepfrog's own corporate network. The rDNS is the clearest evidence: apu-curr.courseleaf.com is a per-institution CourseLeaf curriculum instance, and cobra-nat169.leepfrog.com is corporate NAT. Space that carries a vendor's multi-tenant application is hosting, even though the tenants are universities — the AS is not itself an education network and belongs on no campus.
• RIS sees 3 IPv4 prefixes / 768 addresses, no IPv6, and 1 observed neighbour. A single upstream and three /24s is a small, single-purpose application network.

Notable

• All three prefixes — 12.2.169.0/24, 12.175.6.0/24 and 12.188.251.0/24 — are ARIN- registered to AT&T Enterprises, LLC, because they are carved out of AT&T's legacy 12.0.0.0/8. This is provider-assigned space, not third-party leasing: the registrant is the upstream, and Leepfrog's own rDNS sits on top of it.
• The naming inside those blocks does the identifying work that the registry does not. Any attempt to geolocate or attribute this AS from the RDAP registrant alone lands on AT&T and gets the answer wrong.

Interesting

• A hosting AS whose customer-facing hostnames are all *.courseleaf.com subdomains named after individual institutions makes the tenant list partly readable straight from DNS.
