IBX-CHICAGO is MitoTec, a Chicago-area business ISP and managed IT provider registered to ARIN org CONVE-48 at Burr Ridge, Illinois. It is part of the ConVergence Technologies family of companies and sells internet access, VoIP, managed networking and Wi-Fi to businesses in the western Chicago suburbs.

What it's used for

Business connectivity and managed services, not consumer broadband and not transit. RIS sees 8 IPv4 prefixes (4,352 addresses), one IPv6 /32 at 2606:7380::/32, and only 3 observed BGP neighbours. A handful of neighbours against a few thousand addresses is an end-network-plus-customers shape: MitoTec buys transit from a small number of upstreams and announces its own space plus the space of the customers it serves. One prefix carries the netname ORDWISPSOUTH, which reads as a fixed-wireless segment on the south side of the Chicago metro.

Notable

The prefix registrants look scattered at first glance and are not. Most blocks register to MitoTec under the netname IVN-OAKIL — IVN is InVision Networks, a sibling brand whose domain still serves as the AS's abuse contact. The two apparent outsiders are ordinary carrier reassignments: 208.78.192.0/21 registers to Florida Automotive Distributors, and ARIN records it as a customer assignment with MitoTec as the administrative and technical contact. A second block sits with Trimega on the same pattern. Customer SWIPs under a provider's own AS are exactly what a small business ISP should look like.

The handle suggests a Chicago interconnect, but the AS is an access and managed-services network, not an exchange point.
