AS11710 ABBATECH

ABBATECH is the corporate network of Abba Technologies, an employee-owned managed IT services and systems-integration firm headquartered in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The AS exists so the company can hold provider-independent address space and multihome its own offices and hosted systems, not to sell connectivity.

What it's used for

RIS sees just two prefixes and 512 addresses on this AS, with three observed neighbours. That combination is the classic enterprise silhouette: a wholesale carrier of any size peers with hundreds or thousands of ASes because carrying other people's traffic is the product, while an enterprise buys a couple of transit links for resilience and peers with nobody else. Three neighbours against a pair of /24s says "we bought redundant upstreams", not "we are an upstream".

Both prefixes, 67.148.130.0/24 and 67.129.156.0/24, are registered in ARIN directly to Abba Technologies, and the sampled reverse DNS lands on ms.abbatech.com — first-party space carrying first-party hostnames. There is no gap between who holds the AS, who is registered for the address space, and whose name is in the PTRs, which is what clears a network of the IP-leasing pattern.

Notable

Both ARIN network handles carry a CTL- prefix, the marker of a CenturyLink/Lumen reassignment, while the org on each record is Abba Technologies. That is a carrier SWIP: the space comes out of an upstream's pool but is registered to the customer that uses it. It is worth naming because a registrant that differs from the AS holder is the first thing that looks suspicious in an IP-leasing check, and here it is simply ordinary carrier paperwork.
