CITY-OF-HOPE is the enterprise network of City of Hope, the cancer treatment and

biomedical research centre headquartered in Duarte, California. It is a single-site

institutional network, not a service provider.

What it's used for

• Carrying City of Hope's own hospital, clinic and research-campus traffic: four IPv4 prefixes totalling 16,640 addresses, all of it registered to City of Hope Medical Center itself, all of it announced by City of Hope's own AS.

Notable

• The routing shape backs the "enterprise" reading rather than any provider role. RIS sees only 3 observed neighbours against those four prefixes. A carrier or hosting operator of comparable address size would peer with dozens to hundreds of ASes; a handful of upstreams is what a large institution with multihomed internet service looks like.
• Every prefix registers to org City of Hope Medical Center (handle COH), including the two /19s. Self-registered space announced by the matching AS is the cleanest possible signal that this is a real operator running its own address space, not an ASN fronting third-party inventory.
• No IPv6 is announced.

Interesting

• The blocks are contiguous inside 151.152.0.0/16-adjacent space, consistent with a single organisation that grew one allocation rather than accreting acquisitions.
• No PTRs were returned on the addresses sampled. That is a sample, not a finding: it says nothing about whether the reverse zone is delegated, and nothing about what the space carries. The registrant data, not the rDNS, is what identifies this network.
