property and casualty insurers. The AS carries Allstate's own corporate network.

• Enterprise connectivity for a very large insurer: data centres, corporate offices, the agent network, claims and policy systems, and public-facing customer portals.
• RIS sees 69 announced IPv4 prefixes totalling 66,304 addresses, no IPv6, and only 5 observed BGP neighbours. That ratio is the whole story. Sixty-six thousand addresses is carrier-scale by address count alone, but five neighbours is not: a wholesale network of that size would peer with hundreds to thousands of ASes. Allstate is a large end site buying transit, not a network selling it.

• Nearly the entire inventory is a single legacy 167.127.0.0/16, announced both as its constituent /19s (167.127.0.0/19, 167.127.32.0/19, 167.127.64.0/19 and so on, covering the whole /16) and as smaller /20s through /23s inside them. Announcing a /16 as eight /19s plus dozens of more-specifics is deliberate internal segmentation and traffic engineering, not a scattered inventory.
• One prefix, 198.207.185.0/24, registers to American Heritage Life Insurance Company rather than to Allstate. That is a corporate-history artifact, not third-party space: American Heritage Life is an Allstate subsidiary, the entity behind the Allstate Benefits workplace-benefits business. A registrant that differs from the holder only matters when the registrant is genuinely unrelated, and this one is inside the same group.

Interesting

• The 167.127.0.0/16 is a legacy allocation held directly by the company, the kind of block that predates any real scarcity in IPv4. That Allstate still runs it whole, with no IPv6 announced at all, says something about how conservative large insurer networks remain.
