1WIRE-FIBER is 1Wire Communications, LLC — trading as 1Wire Fiber, a Utah telecommunications provider based in the Salt Lake valley that sells fibre internet and cloud voice, largely to small and medium businesses, much of it delivered over the state's UTOPIA open-access fibre network. It announces six IPv4 prefixes (3,584 addresses) and one IPv6 /36, with five observed BGP neighbours.

What it's used for

Customer access and the services attached to it. The reverse DNS across most of the space is generated, per-address, under the company's own domain: 162-219-180-5.1wire.co, 208-82-234-5.1wire.co, and so on. Generated PTRs on whole blocks under a first-party domain are what an access provider publishes for subscriber ranges. Combined with a voice product, that points at business fibre customers and the VoIP infrastructure serving them rather than at hosting.

Five neighbours against 3,584 addresses reads as a small regional provider with a handful of upstreams and peers — well short of the hundreds-to-thousands a wholesale carrier shows, but more diverse than a single-transit enterprise.

Notable

All six prefixes register to 1WIRE-FIBER, org 1Wire Communications, LLC. There are no third-party registrants and no cross-RIR scatter; this is an operator announcing space it holds itself, including a slice of the legacy 8/8 (8.33.46.0/23).

Interesting

One block, 65.181.50.0/24, answers with undefined.hostname.localhost — a vendor default that appears when equipment or a provisioning system fills a zone it was never configured for. It is a housekeeping artefact, not a signal about what the block carries, and worth naming precisely so it is not mistaken for a deliberately anonymous range.
