LAS-NIDR is held by PIMCO — Pacific Investment Management Company, the Newport Beach, California fixed-income asset manager. The handle is a good illustration of why handles cannot be trusted on their own: LAS-NIDR names nobody, resembles no known organisation, and would send a naive reader looking at Las Vegas or at some acronym for a research directorate. It is almost certainly an internal department or site code. The registry data is what identifies the holder, and it says PIMCO.

Two observed neighbours against a thousand addresses is a dual-homed enterprise stub. That is the whole reason a firm like this takes an AS number at all: portable address space and two independent transit paths, so a carrier outage does not cut the perimeter and no renumbering is ever forced. A network that sold connectivity or hosting at this address size would show peers in the tens or hundreds. This one shows two, and sells nothing.

Interesting

None of the eight addresses we sampled returned a PTR. That is a sample and not a survey, and it is not evidence of a policy — but the routing picture is complete without it. What sits behind these four /24s is an asset manager's public face: VPN concentrators, mail gateways, market-data and counterparty integration endpoints. The trading and portfolio systems that matter are on private addressing and private circuits, and never appear in the global table at all.
