AS11311 Sinectis S.A.

AS11311 is held by Sinectis S.A., a Buenos Aires internet provider founded in the mid-1990s. Its corporate history is well documented: Universo Online (UOL) bought Sinectis in 2001, and the Argentine provider SION S.A. bought the company from UOL's Brazilian parent in 2010, since when the Sinectis name has survived mainly as a brand and a set of registry records.

What it's used for

The routed footprint is one block. RIS sees 1 IPv4 prefix, 4,096 addresses, no IPv6 and a single observed neighbour — 168.226.64.0/20, registered in LACNIC to Sinectis S.A. and announced through exactly one upstream. Registrant and origin agree, so the space is first-party; there is no scattered third-party inventory here. But one upstream and one prefix is a very quiet network for an ISP, and the pack gives no positive evidence of what the /20 currently carries.

The reverse DNS is the interesting part, and it is a trap worth naming. Sampled addresses come back as 168-226-64-5.mrse.com.ar and 168-226-72-5.mrse.com.ar. That mrse.com.ar domain is not Sinectis: it is the generic reverse-DNS domain of Telefónica de Argentina, used across its Argentine access networks. Reverse DNS shows what a block is plumbed into, never who holds it, and here it is telling you the upstream, not the customer. A generic dashed-IP PTR under a carrier's default domain is consistent with access space and equally consistent with a block whose reverse zone was simply never taken back from the provider.

That gap is why this AS is held rather than labelled. The holder is a real, findable Argentine ISP; what its single /20 serves today — home broadband under the SION brand, corporate customers, or a remnant of either — the evidence does not settle.
