GETTYSBURG-DOM is Gettysburg College, the private liberal-arts college at 300 N. Washington Street, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania (ARIN org GETTYS). The AS carries the college's single campus network.

What it's used for

Campus networking, and essentially nothing else. RIS observes 23 IPv4 prefixes carrying ~58,368 addresses and no IPv6, learned through only two observed neighbours. That is a classic small-university profile: a large legacy address block (the 138.234.0.0 space, sliced into a dozen /20s plus smaller pieces) announced through one or two research/commercial upstreams. A network with tens of thousands of addresses but two neighbours is not selling connectivity to anyone — it is one organisation announcing its own space.

Every prefix RDAP could resolve comes back registered to GETTYSBURG, and reverse DNS is uniformly first-party under cc.gettysburg.edu. Self-registered space with first-party rDNS settles the question: a real single operator, no leasing or brokerage.

Notable

The rDNS is unusually revealing about what the addresses actually carry. Names like westhall109com, scmatemstadium, dining-cam2, thetachicam1, sciencehp2910poe, sci155crestronpr and lamppost6300m are dorm rooms, stadium and dining-hall cameras, PoE switches, Crestron AV controllers and outdoor wireless access points. This is a flat, publicly-addressed campus in which classroom AV gear, cameras and dorm ports all sit in routable space — an addressing style that predates widespread NAT and persists at institutions holding plentiful IPv4.

The abundance of addresses per student is the giveaway of an early allocation: the college has roughly one public IPv4 address for every campus device it has ever owned.
