RICHWEB is Richweb, Inc., an IT services and hosting company operating out of the Richmond, Virginia area (offices in Ashland, VA) since the mid-1990s. It runs managed networks, private cloud hosting and colocation for businesses, schools and service providers in the mid-Atlantic.

What it's used for

Hosting and managed-network services rather than consumer access. RIS observes two IPv4 prefixes — 208.74.80.0/21 plus a more-specific 208.74.85.0/24 — totalling about 2,048 addresses, and one IPv6 prefix, 2602:f993::/36. Both v4 prefixes are registered to Richweb's own ARIN block (RICHWEB-IPV4), so the space is first-party and not leased in from a third party.

Three observed BGP neighbours puts this squarely in the small multihomed-provider bracket: enough upstreams for resilience under a hosting SLA, nowhere near the neighbour count of a transit carrier.

Notable

The IPv6 allocation is a /36, which is a provider-sized block rather than an end-site /48 — consistent with a company that sub-delegates address space to hosted customers and downstream networks rather than just numbering its own office LAN.

No PTRs came back on the four addresses sampled, but that is a sample and not a finding — nothing should be read into it either way.
