AS-TIERP-11180 is held by TierPoint, LLC of St. Louis, Missouri — a national colocation, managed-hosting and private-cloud operator that grew largely by acquiring regional data-centre companies. TierPoint holds a number of ASNs picked up along the way, and this is one of the small ones rather than its main network.

One /24 behind one upstream is a remnant footprint: enough to keep a legacy block reachable under its own origin AS, not enough to be doing meaningful hosting work. The /24 is not registered to TierPoint. RDAP puts 65.175.2.0/24 under GTT Americas, LLC, in a network still named YIPS-65-175-2-0 — the naming lineage of Yipes Enterprise Services, the metro-Ethernet carrier whose address space passed through later owners into GTT. Announcing space registered to somebody else is the pattern that flags an address broker, so it is worth being precise about why it does not here: a single provider-assigned /24, one upstream, and a decades-old carrier block whose registrant simply never followed the customer. That is inertia, not brokerage.

Interesting

The ASN registration dates to 2006 and the address block to 2007, and both have outlived the companies that created them. Cards like this one are mostly a reminder that a low AS number with almost no routing behind it usually means an acquisition left it stranded, not that the network is important.
