What it's used for

Small-scale provider hosting. RIS observes 3 IPv4 prefixes totalling 768 addresses — 23.171.8.0/24, 23.171.9.0/24 and 209.205.228.0/24 — plus one IPv6 prefix, 2602:f9ab::/36. All three v4 blocks are registered to Nuyek's own ARIN objects (NUYEK-V4-24-1-410, NUYEK-V4-24-2, NUYEK-V4-22-1), and the sampled reverse DNS (5.8.171.23.nuyek.com) is first-party. Self-registered space with the operator's own rDNS is the signature of a real, if small, host — not of an announcer running other people's blocks.

Three observed BGP neighbours is consistent with a single-footprint host taking transit, and 768 addresses is a genuinely small inventory: this is a boutique VPS shop, not a data-centre operator.

Notable

Despite the low, early-Internet-looking AS number, this is a young network. ARIN records the ASN's registration as February 2023, and the LLC itself was formed in 2022 — so the number reached its current holder recently rather than having been operated by Nuyek since the 1990s. AS11117 is a good illustration of a pattern that runs right through this range: a four-figure AS number tells you nothing about the age of the network behind it.

The IPv6 allocation is a /36 — modest by provider standards, and sized in proportion to a business of this scale rather than to the /32 a larger host would hold.
