CYBERVERSE is now held by Evocative, Inc., the US colocation and edge-infrastructure operator that acquired Cyberverse, Inc. in 2018 and later folded VPLS and its sibling brands into the single Evocative name. The AS is small in routing terms: three /24s (768 addresses), no IPv6, and one observed BGP neighbour.

What it's used for

Evocative runs colocation and bare-metal/managed hosting out of carrier-hotel data centres across the US. What this particular AS still announces is a remnant of that estate rather than the bulk of it — the sampled reverse DNS resolves under vpls.net, including a mail host tagged hnl1 (Honolulu) and a *.static.vpls.net name, which is server and colocation space, not access or eyeball space.

Notable

At first glance the prefix registrants look like the classic address-broker tell: three /24s registered to three different names — VPLSNET, LOUDPACKET-NET and FIBERNOC-CA — none of which is the AS holder. They are not unrelated shells, though. VPLS, Loudpacket and FiberNOC were all brands of the same California hosting group that Evocative consolidated, and the reverse DNS on the space is first-party vpls.net. Registration plus rDNS agreeing on one real, findable operator is what separates an acquisitive hosting company from a leasing operation, and that is the reading here.

Interesting

This AS is a small artifact of consolidation. The holder name is one acquired brand, the address space is registered under three others, and the rDNS belongs to a fourth. Only the corporate history makes the picture coherent.
