QUALCOMM is exactly what it looks like — Qualcomm, Inc., the San Diego semiconductor and wireless company. This is one of its corporate autonomous systems, and every scrap of evidence in the routing agrees.

What it's used for

Qualcomm's own corporate and engineering estate. RIS observes 36 announced IPv4 prefixes carrying 13,568 addresses, three IPv6 /40s, and only five observed BGP neighbours. Five is the giveaway: a company this large, peering with a handful of networks, is buying transit for its own sites — not selling connectivity to anyone. The prefix list is mostly long strings of more-specifics out of 199.106.96.0/19 and 129.46.0.0/16, which is what a big enterprise does when it wants individual site or DMZ blocks steerable across providers.

Reverse DNS inside that space is first-party and unglamorous: hdr-host5.qualcomm.com, fence.qualcomm.com, av01d.qualcomm.com, hitachi-sf1.qualcomm.com. Named internal hosts, not customer pools.

Notable

The registrants all trace back to Qualcomm: QUALCOMM-INC for 67.52.128.0/21, QUALNET for the 129.46.x legacy Class B, and CERF-QUALCOMM for the 199.106.x blocks — a survivor of the old CERFnet assignments in San Diego.

Interesting

The 67.52.128.0/21 is Qualcomm-registered but its PTRs read syn-067-052-128-005.biz.spectrum.com — the upstream's default naming, left in place on the customer's own block. A neat demonstration that reverse DNS names whoever configured the zone, not whoever holds the addresses.
