INTERNAP-BLK is one of the address-holding autonomous systems of Internap (INAP), the Atlanta-founded managed hosting and "route-optimized" IP transit provider, now held by Unitas Global after Unitas acquired INAP's network and connectivity business out of its restructuring.

What it's used for

RIS sees 40 IPv4 prefixes / 44,032 addresses plus a single IPv6 prefix (2600:c04::/32) originated here, against just 6 observed neighbours. That combination is the signature of a hosting and colocation footprint rather than a wholesale carrier: a transit business of Internap's former stature would show hundreds of BGP adjacencies, not six. The prefixes are a scatter of legacy /20–/24 blocks across 63.251/16, 64.74/16, 66.150/16, 66.151/16, 74.201/16, 74.217/16 and 216.52/16 — the accumulated customer-assignment space of a company that grew by acquisition through the 2000s.

The sampled reverse DNS lands on a customer, not the operator: 64.74.168.5 resolves to 5-168-74-64.nonfatmedia.com. That is exactly what colocation and dedicated-server space looks like, where the tenant owns the PTR. It is also a reminder that rDNS tells you what a block carries, never who holds it.

Interesting

The -BLK suffix in the handle is the giveaway that this ASN's job is to hold and announce address space, not to be the company's transit identity. Internap ran several ASNs in parallel; the fragmentation of the prefix list here — dozens of small blocks, no large aggregate — is the fossil record of many small allocations rather than one big one.
