AS10881 FUNPAR - Fundacao da UFPR para o DCTC

FUNPAR is the Fundação da UFPR, the support foundation of the Universidade Federal do Paraná in Curitiba. The routing shows the ASN is doing more than serving one foundation: it carries the university and the Paraná point of presence of RNP, Brazil's national research and education network.

What it's used for

Academic networking for a whole state. RIS shows 20 announced IPv4 prefixes holding 114,688 addresses, 3 announced IPv6 prefixes, and 19 observed neighbours.

Nineteen neighbours against a modest address count is the distinguishing signal. A single-campus university announces its space behind one or two upstreams; a number that high means other networks connect through this one. That is what a regional NREN PoP does: it aggregates the universities, federal institutes and research bodies in its state and hands them up to the national backbone.

The reverse DNS confirms both halves. Sampled addresses resolve to IP5.ufpr.ufpr.br on the university side and to pr-pop-sv-apl-dhcp-*.ger.pop-pr.rnp.br on the other, which is unambiguous RNP PoP-PR infrastructure. So the space carries campus networks and regional academic transit, not commercial customers.

The v4 estate is a legacy 200.134.0.0/16 plus fragments of 200.17, 200.19, 200.236 and 200.238 blocks, several announced both whole and as halves. Neighbouring pieces of 200.238 are announced by [AS10875](https://asn.ipinfo.app/AS10875), another federal-university support foundation, which is a small window into how LACNIC-era Brazilian academic space was carved up.
