VISIONARY is Visionary Communications, trading as Visionary Broadband: an ISP founded in 1994 and headquartered in Gillette, Wyoming, serving fibre and fixed-wireless subscribers across Wyoming, Colorado, Montana and New Mexico. Its wholesale transport arm operates as Mammoth Networks.

Regional broadband access, aggregated into a single origin AS. RIS sees 37 announced IPv4 prefixes carrying about 123,392 addresses and 3 IPv6 prefixes, against 31 observed BGP neighbours — more peers than a pure enterprise but nowhere near the hundreds a wholesale carrier would show, consistent with an access network that also runs a middle-mile business and therefore hands off to a fair number of regional partners.

The reverse DNS is where this AS gets interesting: it is not one company's naming, it is a dozen. Sampled PTRs fall under mammothnetworks.com, vail.net, colorado.net, internetcolorado.net, go180.net, ptera.net, empnet.net and oregontrail.net. Those are the brands of the independent Rocky Mountain and Inland Northwest ISPs Visionary has rolled up. The blocks and their rDNS zones came along with the acquisitions and were re-originated here rather than renumbered.

The IPv4 footprint reflects that history — a dozen unrelated /19s from different eras, plus scattered /21s and /23s, rather than one contiguous allocation. Names like dslb5.internetcolorado.net and 66-201-128-5.dynamic.mammothnetworks.com mark subscriber pools; the mix of dynamic, cust and DSL naming across acquired brands is the signature of an eyeball network assembled by acquisition.
