FIBERPIPE is registered to Fiberpipe, Inc. of Boise, Idaho — a company that started around 2000 selling Internet access to the Treasure Valley and then turned into a data-centre and hosting business, ultimately being bought by Utah's Tonaquint (since rebranded ValorC3) in 2020.

What it's used for

RIS observes 3 IPv4 prefixes carrying 1,792 addresses — 216.211.212.0/22, 199.244.26.0/23 and 199.254.149.0/24 — one IPv6 prefix, 2607:f670::/32, and 2 observed BGP neighbours.

The reverse DNS says what the space actually carries, and it is not Fiberpipe's own brand: every sampled address resolves under valice.com, including boi-gw1-a.valice.com, plainly a Boise gateway router. Valice is a Boise managed web host — shared, VPS and WordPress hosting for businesses — that colocates its own hardware in a Boise data centre. So the honest reading is that this AS's blocks are hosting space: web servers and the virtualised infrastructure under them, fronted by a network operator whose registry name has outlived the brand it now serves.

Two upstreams and under two thousand addresses puts the scale where you would expect: a regional host, not a platform.

Notable

The card is a good example of why registration and reverse DNS have to be read separately. The holder is a data-centre company that has changed hands; the contents are a hosting provider's fleet. Neither fact would be correct on its own, and neither makes the other network's name the right label for this AS.
