AS10545 LCOL

The campus ASN of the University of Lynchburg, a private university in Lynchburg, Virginia. The handle LCOL is a relic of the institution's former name, Lynchburg College, which it carried until it was redesignated a university.

LCOL is a good reminder that ARIN handles freeze the name an organisation had when the record was created. Reading the handle alone, this could be almost anything. It is only the registered organisation name that identifies it, and that is the field worth trusting.

The /24 sits in legacy 206.0.0.0/8 space, consistent with an allocation from the era when a college could get public addresses directly rather than through an upstream.
