MERKLE-INC is the corporate network of Merkle Inc., a customer-experience

and data-driven performance marketing consultancy headquartered in Columbia,

Maryland, and part of the Japanese advertising group Dentsu since 2016.

What it's used for

• Merkle's own corporate and production connectivity: the CRM, loyalty and data-analytics platforms it runs on behalf of Fortune 1000 clients, plus its own offices and public-facing infrastructure.

Notable

• Enterprise, and a small one at that. RIS sees just 4 IPv4 prefixes carrying roughly 1,536 addresses, with 3 observed BGP neighbours. That is the textbook multihomed end-site: a handful of upstreams for resilience and no downstream customers. A hosting provider of any commercial size would carry orders of magnitude more address space; a carrier would peer with hundreds.
• The prefixes themselves reinforce it — 216.150.56.0/22 with a more-specific /23 inside it, plus two lone /24s (65.210.57.0/24, 65.222.187.0/24). That is a company announcing a couple of data-centre footprints and doing traffic-engineering on one of them, not a provider handing out space.
• The address count matters more than it looks. 1,536 addresses is far too few to be an eyeball or hosting network, but exactly right for an enterprise's external edge: VPN concentrators, mail, and the internet-facing tier of marketing platforms.

Interesting

• Merkle's business is assembling consumer data at scale, but the AS reflects the corporate footprint, not that data estate — much of the heavy processing runs in public clouds, under other ASes entirely.
