AS10396 COQUI-NET

COQUI-NET is Datacom Caribe, Inc. of San Juan, the internet arm long associated with the Puerto Rico Telephone Company. It is one of the island's principal consumer broadband networks.

What it's used for

RIS observes 134 IPv4 prefixes carrying 274,432 addresses plus 18 IPv6 prefixes, including a 2606:5f00:8000::/33. The v4 side is anchored by genuinely large blocks: 66.50.0.0/16, three /17s (64.237.128.0/17, 173.215.128.0/17, 72.50.0.0/17) and a row of /18s. A quarter of a million addresses in one territory is an ISP serving a mass market, not an enterprise.

The reverse DNS confirms it and identifies the subscriber technology directly. Sampled names are adsl-64-237-128-5.prtc.net, adsl-72-50-0-5.prtc.net, cvx-ppp-66-50-50-5.coqui.net and static-173-215-128-5.prtc.net. adsl- is DSL subscriber space; cvx-ppp- names a Cisco/Redback-style PPP aggregation shelf terminating dial or DSL sessions. These are home and small-business lines.

Notable

The kind is residential eyeball, and the pool naming settles it against any hosting reading. Note that prtc.net rDNS on coqui.net-held space is exactly the case where rDNS shows what the space carries under a sister brand, not a different holder.

Thirty observed BGP neighbours is consistent with a well-connected island ISP that peers at regional exchanges. It is far too few for a wholesale transit carrier of this address size.
