MEGANET-TCIX is Meganet Communications, an independent competitive local exchange carrier (CLEC) based in Providence, Rhode Island, selling internet, voice and colocation to businesses across New England since 1996. It explicitly no longer sells residential service — this is a commercial network end to end.

What it's used for

Business connectivity and hosted infrastructure. The AS announces 16 IPv4 prefixes totalling roughly 16,600 addresses and one IPv6 2607:d980::/32. The address space comes from three legacy blocks — 209.213.64.0/19, 69.7.0.0/20 and 216.237.96.0/20 — deaggregated into /23s and /24s so individual customer circuits and colocation cabinets can be steered independently.

Reverse DNS shows both halves of the business. Infrastructure and customer-assignment space resolves under Meganet's own zone: web.meganet.net, 69-7-0-5.meganet.net, and the site-labelled 209-213-80-5.prv.ri.meganet.net — prv.ri being Providence, Rhode Island, the location of the company's downtown data centre. Interleaved with that are third-party domains on Meganet space: jelly.cape.com, mx2.mandala-designs.com, spool.naisp.net. Those are customers' own machines — mail servers and hosts — living on assigned addresses, which is exactly what a CLEC selling dedicated circuits and colo looks like from the outside. Crucially, there is not one dsl-, pool- or dhcp- style subscriber name anywhere in the sample.
