What it's used for

The bank's own internet presence and branch connectivity. The AS announces a single IPv4 prefix, 198.54.172.0/24 — 256 addresses — and no IPv6. A sampled address resolves to internet.mybrbs.com, and mybrbs.com is Blue Ridge Bank's own domain. That PTR is the whole story in one line: the space is registered to the holder and named by the holder, so this is first-party infrastructure rather than address space leased out or carrying someone else's traffic.

Notable

This is an enterprise network — specifically the shape a mid-size regulated business takes when it wants to be multi-homed. A single /24 with two observed BGP neighbours means the bank bought portable address space and announces it to two upstream providers so that losing one carrier does not take its online banking, VPN concentrators and mail off the internet. Renumbering out of a provider's space every time you change carriers is unacceptable for a bank; owning the /24 and running BGP is the standard fix.
