What it's used for

Carrying NAB's internal estate: branch and contact-centre connectivity, corporate offices, data centres, and the internet-facing edge in front of its retail and institutional banking platforms. The AS announces 61 IPv4 prefixes totalling roughly 139,800 addresses and no IPv6. The bulk of that comes from two legacy class-B allocations, 155.60.0.0/16 and 164.53.0.0/16, plus 203.8.32.0/19 from APNIC. The 164.53.0.0/16 block is then re-announced as a long tail of /22s, /23s and /24s — the classic shape of an enterprise deaggregating its own space so that individual sites, DMZs and data-centre segments can be steered independently across redundant links.

This is an enterprise network, and the neighbour count is what settles it. Nearly 140,000 addresses with only one observed BGP neighbour describes an organisation that buys connectivity and does not sell it. A carrier holding comparable space would show hundreds of adjacencies; a hosting provider would show server-style rDNS across many customer domains. A bank of NAB's size holding a large legacy allocation is unremarkable — the address space was granted when swathes of /16s went to large institutions, and it has simply never been given back.

Do not read this space as consumer broadband. Any address here is far more likely to be a bank office, ATM network segment or corporate proxy than a subscriber.
