SKYMEDIA-AS-MAIN is Skymedia Corporation, an Ulaanbaatar-based Mongolian operator that

sells internet access, triple-play television and VoIP to subscribers.

What it's used for

• Retail broadband and bundled TV/telephony service in Mongolia. The AS carries the subscriber pools, the CPE and the service platforms behind them.
• RIS sees 42 IPv4 prefixes totalling 10,752 addresses and one IPv6 prefix, 2405:ae00::/32. Almost the entire v4 estate is announced as individual /24s drawn from three legacy APNIC ranges: 202.55.176.0–202.55.190.0, 202.9.41.0–202.9.47.0 and 112.72.2.0–112.72.14.0, with a 103.23.50.0/24 alongside.

Notable

• Eyeball access network, not a carrier and not hosting. Only 3 observed BGP neighbours. A wholesale transit business peers with hundreds to thousands of ASes; three adjacencies is a retail ISP buying upstream in a market where international capacity is expensive and comes from a small number of sellers. Mongolia is landlocked, so its ISPs reach the internet through a handful of Chinese and Russian carriers, which is exactly the shape here.
• Ten thousand addresses is a sensible size for a national-scale but small-population subscriber base. It is far too much space for an enterprise end-site and far too little for anything with a wholesale role.

Interesting

• The all-/24 announcement pattern is a deprecation artefact more than a design: an ISP that has been buying small legacy blocks since the early 2000s ends up advertising them one by one because they never aggregated into anything larger. The lone /32 of IPv6 is the modern half of the same network.
