CKTELECOM-CK-AP is Telecom Cook Islands, trading as Vodafone Cook Islands — the incumbent and effectively sole telecommunications operator of the Cook Islands, founded in 1991 and now owned by Amalgamated Telecom Holdings. AS10131 is the national eyeball network.

What it's used for

Fixed broadband, mobile and fixed-line service for households and businesses across Rarotonga and the outer islands. The AS announces 18 IPv4 prefixes totalling roughly 8,192 addresses (a 202.65.32.0/19 with its /21s and /24s deaggregated for traffic engineering) and no IPv6. The sampled reverse DNS is subscriber naming throughout: hosts like 202-65-56-5.xdsl.net.oyster.net.ck sit under the operator's own oyster.net.ck service domain, with xdsl marking the DSL access concentrators the customers hang off. The exception is telling in its own way — r0-akl.net.oyster.net.ck is a router in Auckland, which is where the islands' transit actually lands.

This is an eyeball network. Roughly 8,000 addresses against only 12 observed BGP neighbours is the access-ISP silhouette: a wholesale carrier of comparable size would peer with hundreds of ASes, while an island incumbent buys transit from a couple of New Zealand upstreams. Geolocate this space to Cook Islands end users, not to a data centre.

Interesting

Almost an entire country's internet population sits behind a single /19. The oyster.net.ck domain long predates the Vodafone branding, so the network's own naming still reflects the original Telecom Cook Islands identity.
