AS10126 CHTI-IP-AP Taiwan Internet Gateway

CHTI-IP-AP is the customer-address AS of Chunghwa Telecom's International Business Group, the arm that runs the TWGate international gateway out of Taipei. It holds the IP space TWGate hands to its access customers rather than the backbone itself.

What it's used for

Assigned connectivity for organisations buying internet access and leased-line service through TWGate. The AS announces 10 IPv4 prefixes totalling about 34,800 addresses plus two IPv6 /48s, and every sampled PTR sits under Chunghwa's own twgate.net service domain, in the sequential 175-111-192-5.twgate-ip.twgate.net form a carrier stamps on space it has delegated to customers. Two of the samples show what actually lives there: shsdb.twgate.net, an operator-run host, and epaper.jpmmail.com, a customer's mail-and-newsletter server. This is carrier-assigned server and office space, not a subscriber pool.

This is carrier-assigned business space, not a transit network, and the neighbour count is what settles it. Roughly 34,800 addresses against only 2 observed BGP neighbours cannot be a wholesale carrier, which would peer with hundreds of ASes. Chunghwa's actual gateway routing lives in its own transit ASes; AS10126 exists to originate the assignment blocks. Geolocate it to Taiwanese business customers of Chunghwa International.

Interesting

The address space is drawn from three unrelated-looking ranges (175.111, 203.160, 220.128) yet all carry first-party twgate.net reverse DNS. Scattered blocks with the operator's own rDNS are a real carrier's accumulated allocations, not a broker's.
