AS10046 HOWON-AS HOWON UNIVERSITY

HOWON-AS is Howon University (호원대학교), a private four-year university in Gunsan,

North Jeolla Province. Founded in 1977 as Gunsan Industrial College and elevated to

university status in 1998, it teaches around 7,000 students across six colleges — social

science, tourism, media and arts, health and welfare, physical education, and science and

engineering — with a practical, industry-oriented bent.

• Education, and the routing shape corroborates the name rather than merely echoing it. RIS observes just 2 IPv4 prefixes carrying 3,072 addresses — 203.246.64.0/21 and 203.230.152.0/22 — behind a single observed neighbour.
• Two clean aggregates and one upstream is the signature of a campus end site. It holds a number and provider-independent space so its addressing survives a change of provider, but it is single-homed through one transit path and has nothing to resell. Compare a commercial hosting network of the same address count, which would be far more deaggregated and would peer with more than one AS.
• Three thousand addresses for seven thousand students is a normal campus ratio in Korea, where universities received sizeable early IPv4 assignments and route them flat rather than hiding everything behind NAT.

• Howon is one of the few institutions that kept the old Korean "industrial university" model, and its applied-music department is unusually well known — a steady pipeline of K-pop performers has passed through it.
